MJS Glass Solutions has provided this handy tutorial so you can sort your dropped UPVC Door or Composite Door yourself.
What you will need:
- A flat head screwdriver
- A Phillips headed screwdriver
- A 5mm Allan Key
Step 1 – Remove the cover cap on the top of the hinge, this looks like a disc and is generally made out of plastic, simply use the flat headed screwdriver to wedge underneath to lift the cap.
Step 2 – You can adjust the compression of the door hinge with the 5mm allen key, please note some hinges may also from here let you adjust the hinge to move the door away or towards the flag hinge.
Step 3 – Remove the end cap on the section of the hinge which is attached to the door, once the cover plate is removed, you can adjust the lateral position of the hinge with the 5mm allen key. Please note you may also have to open the door to reveal the cover plate screw to remove the cover plate.
Step 4 – Remove the cover cap on the bottom of you flag hinge, once again using the flat headed screwdriver. Use the 5mm allen key, to adjust the height of the flag hinge. This is if the door has dropped and is rubbing on the frame.
To put it simply with these 3 adjustments, you can move the door away from the frame, towards the frame, increase or decrease the height of the door and adjust the compression.
